Driftwood & Hand Tools' Category

The Driftwood Club of Campbell River was founded August 21, 2001.  "Driftwood is a heart-warming art medium which captivates & inspires," says Carolyn Belanger.  Workshops in the building of 'hobbitats' (westcoast villages made from driftwood & other beach-finds) created the need for this fun club six years ago.  A hard-working group of people who have, over time produced three Tidemark events, participated in six Shoreline Arts Carving Competitions, and held many individual shows and sales.  Most of all, this charitable group enjoys creating driftwood works of art for other groups to use in their fund-raising endeavours.  The Driftwood Club is also very proud to have formed the Sybil Andrews Heritage Society to save the 'little blue cottage' (2131 South Island Highway) where world-reknowned Artist Sybil Andrews lived for 47 years with her husband Walter Morgan (who was an accomplished boat builder during this time).  This is a fun 'club', no membership required, just the love of driftwood in mind.  Contact Mary Teer at hobbitats@yahoo.com.  Tel: (250) 286-6488.
